Symposium of the Workgroup on Interactive Systems in Healthcare (WISH)

HomeSenseALS was presented as a poster at the Symposium of the Workgroup on Interactive Systems in Healthcare (WISH), which took place in Hamburg, Germany, in May 28th.

Our paper talked about the results from interviews with patients, informal carers, and clinicians, and the challenge of designing a self-care application that does not track disease worsening or progression.

Global ALS/MND Awareness Day

Professor Bruno Miranda presented the HomeSenseALS project at an event organized by the Portuguese Association of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (APELA). This initiative had the participation of the entire community and aimed to present innovative projects, which rely on technology to improve the patient’s quality of life.

HomeSenseALS project was presented at the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP) New Frontiers in Digital Health Meeting, in Nice. This was a face-to-face meeting essential for focused, high-level exchange of the intersection of research science and new treatment development.

Topics of the meeting:

  • Decentralised trials in CNS;
  • Digital (mobile) endpoints;
  • Digital therapeutics;

HomeSenseALS was part of the section “Praticle examples of the use of an app” being shared our mobile application that integrates the remote evaluation of multiple ALS outcomes.

World Rare Disease Day – The Instituto Nacional de Saúde Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA) marked this day with the event “Sensibilizar, conhecer e promover a mudança para 6% da população”. The event intended to raise public awareness of the issue of rare diseases, but also to give visibility to the work developed in this area by different entities and institutions. HomeSenseALS was presented in the “Home-based monitoring of ALS: methodology and potential advantages” talk.

Neurodegenerative Diseases Workshop: This workshop was organized by redeSAÚDE of University of Lisbon and aimed to discuss the problem that these kinds of diseases have on public health. HomeSenseALS project was presented in the “Uso de sensores no seguimento de Doenças Neurodegenerativas” talk.
